The Universal Laws and Principles

This brief consideration of Radiation shows us that it is a reality, which not only takes place when we intentionally direct it as in blessing, healing and extending love, but which is going on the whole time from our auras, whether its quality be good or not. Spiritual Radiation is a redemptive process, a constant working of what might be called almost a “chemical change” in the substance of the auras of humanity and of the planet. Each of us is contributing to this all the time, and the group contribution - the radiation of the groups gathered for specific purpose - is a growing factor in life on earth today.

Each of us can, and should be a “centre of radiation,” penetrating to and affecting other centers and lives; in this way fulfilling our part in the redemption of the planet. We each have our sphere of radiation, it is our area of responsibility, and within that sphere - which is often larger than we think - we can serve in a definite way the Purpose of the Lord.” Roberto Assagioli M.D.  (1888-1974)

Radiation is the outer effect produced by all forms in all kingdoms when their internal activity has reached such a stage of vibratory activity that the confining walls of the form no longer form a prison, but permit of the escape of the subjective essence. It marks a specific point of attainment in the evolutionary process, and this is equally true of the atom of substance with which the chemist and physicist deal when working with the elements, as it is of the forms in the vegetable kingdom, the forms in the animal kingdom, in the human and likewise in the divine.

The active radiatory work of blessing and the conscious projection of thought forms are specific types of radiation. To be effective this radiation must flow from the soul-infused personality. “The thought of blessing has in it the idea of the transfer of spiritual energy.”

What We Can Radiate

Let us see what we can and should radiate. We can radiate by means of spiritual telepathy, ideas: either pure abstract ideas, or ideas “formulated” in thought forms. We can radiate qualities, aspects, attributes such as Love, Light, Joy, Strength, Will. These two forms of radiation can be combined: that is, we can radiate ideas or thoughtforms qualified or vitalized by the spiritual qualities just mentioned.

Each of us necessarily and inevitably radiates what he is. It is time that we realized this and became aware of the responsibility it entails, so that we may consciously utilize our radiation to the full. Radiation can be called a form of telepathy; it is a way of “impressing,” and it has both general and specific aspects. Radiation from the whole of our aura expresses what we really are, which, both in a higher and lower sense, is much more than we are aware of.

Exercise In Radiation

1. Preparation

First let us consider how to radiate. This is important for the success of our attempt. There is a general preparation, consisting of concentration on what we want to radiate. In the case of a spiritual quality, a more effective preparation is that of arousing within ourselves that quality, of identifying ourselves with the idea, the feeling, the qualified energy. Then it radiates spontaneously. So in this way we can combine both spontaneous and purposeful directed radiation.

2. Receptivity to Joy

Another factor which increases the effectiveness of radiation is joy. This idea may be a surprise at first, but we can easily be convinced of it if we realize that joy always has a stimulating and vivifying effect, so that it facilitates and enhances the effectiveness of every action.

3. Formulation and Visualization

After this preparation comes the exact formulation and visualization of the idea. It can be a word or a phrase and, whenever possible, an image or a picture.

4. Identification

This stage is linking and tuning up with the receiver. This is accomplished in two ways:

A. Visualizing the person, nation, total world, etc.

B. Sending a wave of love there. Love is a great linking and unifying energy.

5. Projection

Then comes the stage of the actual projection. This is best done when visualizing a  channel or beam of light projected towards the target., or in the case of a general radiation, beams of light in all directions.

6. Realization

The realization or recognition of the work done as a blessing is an important point for there is no true separation between the inner and outer spiritual livingness.

7. Gratitude

Giving thanks for the blessings received and radiated is our final step in this process and one we need to give our full intention to. We can end with “May The Greater Good Be Served.”

A real danger is the temptation to impose our radiatory influence on others, driven by our will-to-power. Even when we do this with the best motives, it may be harmful. Let us remember that we never have the right to infringe the freedom of others, and we must be aware not to project on others our “ideal” image of them or what we think they should be.

Simplified Exercise

1. Alignment:

Sit comfortably, spine erect, feet flat on the floor, hands clasped loosely in lap.

Emotions quiet as a mountain lake.

Lower mind serene, receptive to the higher mind.

2. At-one-ment:

Joyful at-one-ment with the radiant will of the soul.

3. Affirmation:

I am a living, loving, willing soul.

In the center of the Will of God I stand

Naught shall deflect my will from His.

4. Recognition:

Vision the little will within all men united with the Divine Will-to-Good.

5. Radiation:

I implement that will with love,

And turn toward the field of service.

I serve humanity.

So let it be!
